The winners of the 13th Annual Topping Out Awards program were announced at the Dallas Arboretum on November 9, 2016. Each year, leaders in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industries come together to recognize the year’s Top Ten projects that have made a positive impact on the Dallas-Fort Worth Community.
The White Rock YMCA was among the Top Ten built projects celebrated at this year’s ceremony. With close proximity to White Rock Lake and easy access to extensive hike & bike trails, the facility was designed to connect users to the natural environment – from their fitness experience to casual social engagement. Careful consideration was given to the building form as it was generated to engage the landscape, maximize open space, save heritage trees and create views to White Rock Lake.
In building construction, when the last structural beam or roofing piece is placed on top of a structure, it is noted as a project milestone and called “Topping Out”.
Several team members attended the event including Chris Sano, AIA, Alexis Flores, AIA, Edison Calvopina, Assoc. AIA, BRW Architects, Tommy Osborne, AIA, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, Joshua Jezek, PE, Pacheco Koch and Bob Reynolds, Lee Lewis. Thanks to everyone who had a part in this exciting project!
Congratulations on your award. May you receive many more. Sincerely, Ann Lorenz
