Brazos Bark and Build 2014

Peri Arthur, Amanda Rotter and Lisa Andel from our College Station Studio participated in the 4th annual Brazos Bark and Build dog house competition earlier this month. Brazos Bark and Build is a community wide dog house design competition and silent auction hosted by the local AIA Brazos chapter which benefits the Aggieland Humane Society. In addition to building a dog house inspired by the Aggie Barn on Hwy 6 between College Station and Waco (see photos), Peri, Amanda, and Lisa were also the organizers of the entire event.

Brazos Bark and Build takes place each year in conjunction with Wiener Fest which is the Humane Society’s main annual fundraiser. This year, 21 teams comprised of College Station High School students, Texas A&M College of Architecture Students, professional Architecture firms, and even two local Girl Scout troops entered into the competition. Many of the teams took part in the optional design theme of Texas A&M Aggie Traditions which contributed to the highest fundraising goal ever achieved by the event. Brazos Bark and Build 2014 successfully raised and donated $3,000 to the Aggieland Humane Society!
