We denizens of the ground would probably never notice, but everyday 100 windows are removed and replaced with energy efficient, refurbished glass units. Constructed in 1931, when energy efficiency was neither at the forefront of technology or client concern, the Empire State Building contains over 6,500 non-insulated windows that are all that stands between a stiff winter wind and your favorite over-worked accountant.
