REVIT QUICK TIPS

Tired of getting completely thrown off of your view when orbiting?  Try this:  Highlight the object you are working on before orbiting.  Also, if you aren’t using the SHIFT-Middle Mouse Button shortcut then you’re already doing it wrong. Need to delete that section you temporarily created?  Make sure you click on the section LINE, not the tag when deleting.  This will ensure that the reference AND the section view are removed from the file.  On a side note, who the heck doesn’t turn on “Thin Lines” first thing!?  Seriously, why are those awful thick lines the default setting?

WORKING TOWARDS A GREEN EMPIRE

As the saying goes, there’s more than one way to re-skin a building.  Wait, not what you were expecting?  It seems that New York City’s famed Empire State Building is undergoing a quiet transformation.  We denizens of the ground would probably never notice, but everyday 100 windows are removed and replaced with energy efficient, refurbished glass units.  Constructed in 1931, when energy efficiency was neither at the forefront of technology or client concern, the Empire State Building contains over 6,500 non-insulated windows that are all that stands between a stiff winter wind and your favorite over-worked accountant.  Click through and read on for more information and images of the window elves at work. http://www.popsci.com/technology/gallery/2010-10/empire-state-goes-green
