TRAIL REPORT – BIG CEDARS WILDERNESS TRAILS

One of the newest and most challenging mountain bike trails in the DFW area is Big Cedar Wilderness Trails.  Located in an escarpment area, 15 minutes from downtown Dallas, on the edge of Cedar Hill, it boasts more than 9 miles of single track and jeep road trails and some of the best views in Dallas.  Developed through a joint venture of members of DORBA (Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association) and Mountain Creek Community Church, the park has a competition level cross country race course and a downhill/freeride course to challenge the stamina and guts of all mountain bike riders.  A ride here provides a much-needed escape from the daily office routine and makes you forget that you are close to the heart of the Metroplex.  More information is available at http://www.dorba2.com/trail/big-cedar-wilderness-trails.

CANSTRUCTION

BRW Dallas participated again this year in Canstruction, hosted by North Park Mall, benefiting the North Texas Food Bank.  BRW was among the 23 teams that created unique structures built entirely of canned foods and other food items.  Through fund-raising and money donated by BRW, we bought 2000 cans of food for the Food Bank, part of the grand total of more than 84,000 cans and food items donated in this event that brings support and awareness to the problem of widespread hunger throughout North Texas.  Participant/volunteers this year were Jennifer, Ronnie, Charles, Carol, Steve, Brooke, Andrew and Isaac.
